In Illinois, April is designated as "Safe Haven Awareness Month" to raise awareness about the Illinois Abandoned Newborn Protection Act (also known as the Safe Haven Law). The Safe Haven Law allows infants 30 days old or younger to be handed to staff at a Safe Haven, such as a Police Station (including Campus Police), Fire Station, Hospital or Emergency Medical Facility. With us this morning to talk more about the Safe Haven Law is Dawn Geras, the Founder of the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation.
