Sarah Bowker grew up a lover; heart always wide open. When she designs her jewelry, it all comes down to matters of the heart and liberation. Sarah has been making jewelry since she was young, and has always sought inspiration and wisdom from other cultures. She believes there is a lot that can be learned from the wisdom traditions and indigenous tribes from around the world. Their eye for adornment, their wisdom, their heart. It all shapes, moves, and inspires the work Sarah does through Shakti.
Sarah recalls setting out to India in her 20’s after Nursing School, and finding inspiration in the Tibetan refugee settlements. There was something so deep and so rich about their culture. Something about the way they adorned themselves with meaning and symbolism touched Sarah in a deep way. She was in India to study yoga, in theory, but she believes she was really in India to connect with the rich culture, environment, and heritage to open a deeper part of herself. Sarah chose the name SHAKTI for the brand because of what it represents. LIBERATION.
Shakti is the creative energy that inspires you to seek growth and change and to live a life of purpose and fulfillment. Sarah has a hunger to create, to serve, to make a difference. Her biggest hope is that she can harness this love for stones, the wisdom traditions, and transformation and share a little wisdom with us all.
