This week's episode is a special one; Jupiter and Saturn will appear so close together on December 21, 2020 that it will seem almost as though they are a single star. According to The Planetary Society, they have not been this close in 400 years. This celestial event inspired us to publish a day early, so you may have the chance to experience what has been dubbed the "Christmas Star" for yourselves! Mandy Trapp shared her insight with the Inner Circle on this rare event, her journey to becoming a full-time meditation and mindfulness professional, and so much more. Before opening Canada’s first mainstream meditation centre in 2016, Mandy Trapp had spent nearly 20 years studying and teaching mindfulness and meditation. As a student of Dr. Deepak Chopra, Mandy was learning how to blend ancient wisdom with modern science and integrated the teachings back into her own life, as a busy mom of 3. And while she was finding great success for herself, she couldn’t help but to share it in her existing work as an athletic trainer with both weekend warriors and high performance athletes.
The demand for her education and leadership with mental and emotional health was beginning to tip the scales and in 2012, she decided to commit herself full-time to the growing field of meditation and mindfulness. Lifestyle Meditation was formed later that year and began with teacher training programs written and delivered by Mandy. Now, Lifestyle Meditation has grown to include a team of facilitators and international training venues, while certifying over 3000 meditation teachers to date. Mandy’s teaching style is honest, down to earth, and full of wisdom.
She’s a fierce advocate for those struggling to be seen, to be heard, and to belong. Her goal is to empower others by bringing them back to themselves and support them to seek the meaning in their suffering while using their struggles as a means for connection rather than disconnection. Whether through her work in the human trafficking trade abroad, or with homeless and endangered youth locally, Mandy has created programs, raised money, and built initiatives that have had a tremendous ripple effect that has been sustainable and long-lasting.
