In Seven Truths, we explore each teaching through the eyes of Anishinaabe storyteller Tanya Talaga, and through the lives and experiences of people she’s proud to know. Barbara Kentner’s eventual death after a metal trailer hitch was hurled at her by a passing car reveals deep-seated, racist truths about the city of Thunder Bay, about the country of Canada, and about the dangers of walking down any street as an Indigenous woman or girl. In this, the final teaching, we discover that many still don’t want to face the many truths at the foundation of this tragic story.
