Key Points-Transcipt
This is just going to be a positive channel, just positive, we're going to inspire each other, keep each other motivated, learn new things, that's, that's what it's all about. So this first week I just want to kind of introduce a couple of things that maybe will be a little bit of a tradition here on the channel that we may revisit or talk about on a weekly basis, the first of which is a quote that means a lot to me. I'm a huge tennis fan, I love tennis, I love playing tennis, it's so much fun, I love watching tournaments I'm a huge fan of Arthur Ashe, which he passed many, many years ago. However, there is a quote that he has said that has always stuck with me and the quote is "start where you are use what you have, do what you can". It always motivates me to keep going where I feel like, oh my gosh, I can't do it anymore, I don't have any more resources, start where you are, is no matter where you are in life, you can, that's all you need is just to start, you don't have to already be at a certain level to meet your goals, you have to get there somehow. So whatever you're doing in life, if you have something that you want to achieve, just start where you are, day one is going to be the first day that you're going to move forward and meeting your goals. And the second part of his quote is use what you have. So of course, if you're just starting out, you may not even know how you're going to get there, you don't even have all the resources or maybe even the money to get to where you, where you really want to be in life to achieve those goals. So use what you have, you may not have money, but you probably have a lot of skills that a lot of people with money don't have. So don't forget to just know that if it's a skill that you don't already have, you can learn it, anything can be learned if you just put your mind to it. So don't let yourself get down just because you feel like the finish line is just so far away and in the last part of the quote is do what you can, so to me that just means, hey, I may not have all the time in the world, I'm juggling all these different projects and work and family and everything and sometimes just 10 minutes, maybe all that I have to do what I can, so whatever it is in life, if you're trying to change your careers if you're trying to get on a diet or workout routine, just do what you can, if five minutes or 10 minutes is all you have in a day, use that five or 10 minutes and then guess what may be the next day, it will be 15 minutes or the next day it'll be an hour until you're at the point where, , your whole day is fulfilled with, meeting your goals and using what you can, which is going to end up being on a much, much larger level.
For many years I've been writing in my gratitude journal. So I've had so many journals over the years and whether it's using my planner and writing in them daily, note pad, a gratitude journal just helps to keep me grounded. So sometimes I'm having a bad day or a bad week and writing in the journal just really brings me back to being grounded and saying, I am grateful that there are a lot of good things. There may be something that may not be going on this week that's to my benefit or that's, , keeping my spirits up. But guess what? There are a lot of things to be grateful for, I'm alive, thank God, I am healthy. I have great friends, great family, I have a great career, and now I'm here with you, we're now we're going to be sharing, every week, something new. So that to me is something to be super grateful for. I'm just so excited about it and so I, for some reason, I sometimes I get a little off track on writing in my, in my gratitude journal. So I went to find my journal because I haven't written in it probably in about a month and I couldn't find it and I found something even better that I can use and recycle year over year, which is great because one thing I don't like to do is waste funny just on something that's going to be thrown away. So I have picked up this really great hard found book and it's probably uh by a company probably have heard of, it's called tool and what I really liked about it is how customizable that this book is. There are different types of sheets that you can insert into it. There are also tabs that you can insert if you want to separate the pages or separate sections, which is really, really cool. The one that I ended up going with was like a leather-bound something that's going to last me for years and years to heart really hard hardback, hardback journal and I chose to have, I love stickies. I love to make notes. I love to stick little tabs on pages for me to come back and reference to. So they even have a tab with a bunch of stickies that you can go through and make notes with, which is pretty awesome. I also picked up, they have an insert for a to-do list. So what's neat about it is yeah, you can stick it in the book but you can also tear it out. Maybe I'm making notes and then I want to tear it out and put it in my pocket or put it in my purse to take with me for the day because although there's, although I love to make notes on my phone to be paperless, I'm still also deep down a paper person. I love notes. I love writing. I love reading notes from a piece of paper. I love to buy books. I mean I love digital books but I love a good book to hold and smell and read and cuddle with, especially on a, on a raining day. But I'm getting off track. So back to the gratitude journal. So what's cool about this one is I just chose the one with just regular lines and there's actually a date field at the top. You could even title it but for me, what I'd like to do is I like to fit at least three or four days into one sheet that way I'm not wasting too much paper, and each paper for each, each day. What I do like about it is the fact that if there's something personal, then I say, what, let me just get rid of the evidence of something, something personal that I wrote, I can easily just tear out that one page and recycle it, which is pretty cool. I ran out of paper, I can always recycle, take some paper out, add some new fresh paper in and but the binder is hopefully going to last me for years and years until I decide or find something that I enjoy writing out of better or that may be more useful. And so I would like to encourage you to start a gratitude journal or if you already have one, like I've had one for years to be more consistent. So we're going to do that together And if there's something that you'd like to share with me, I'd love to hear what you're grateful for you never know I might even read it on air. So we are all here to share our day-to-day and our weekly goals or yearly goals. And so you may share something that's going to inspire someone else. As I said, I'm grateful just to be here, I'm grateful for my health to be healthy to have good people around me to have my spiritual grounding, which is so important to me. If me talking about this can inspire you or give you some motivation, that makes my day, makes my week, and speaking of this year has been trying at times, I tell you, but hopefully, we're on track to get back to living a somewhat normal life. I use that loosely because we just don't know what the future holds. I do know that over this past year travel has been super limited. Really limited. So yeah, people have been traveling but it hasn't been the easiest and it also hasn't been the most comforting to get on a plane and travel I know for me like to get on a plane. It's stressful. I'm thinking how are we all on this plane together and there's a pandemic going on. We just have to do what we have to do to get to where we want to go. One thing I can't wait for is to be able to travel internationally again and to see things and share things with you and also hear about some of your travels and adventures. We'd love to share that on our channel and connect with you on that. So one of the things that I ran into which actually I ran into another version of this. But then I ended up researching and finding an at home kit for testing for Covid. I found this company called Abbott, who has it's own home kit, by BinaxNow, the name of the name of it is called BinaxNow, but it's by a company named Abbott. And this is really cool because if you are who knows, maybe if you are in a situation where you're around other people or you have to have someone in your home then this is really cool to kind of give you a little bit of peace of mind, of course, I'm not a doctor. So I can't say that this is 100%. As far as testing you and as giving you results for being covid. Plus even if you take a test, I believe at a hospital, there is still a waiting period before you find out if you even test positive or negative for Covid. So keep that in mind. But this is just a little bit of peace of mind that you can do in the convenience of your own home. So this is great because I use this for my business, and having meetings with people, sometimes I just say what I'd rather have a little bit of comfort, Better safe than sorry and taking a test. So this is really cool because you do get the results literally it says in 15 minutes and it's a really easy kit that they give you what it is. It's basically it's almost like a pregnancy test. I'm not joking with that. So what you do is they give you another thing that I didn't mention is that in one box you get to test. So that's also really good, especially if you if it's for you and your spouse or you and a friend or you get a little bit more than just one in a box which normally it seems like for something like this, they'd only give you one test, right? But no they're giving you too which is pretty cool. And the place that ended up getting this from is Walmart out of all places. I do believe you can order it online as well. I actually ended up finding a local one in my area. Not all the Walmart’s carried in my area, I'm not sure why but they do have delivery, so you can order it online for delivery. It did say the regular price was like $24 and some change, I don't know if this is a regular deal that they will be having forever or if this is just a limited time offer But ended up I ended up paying a little over $19. It was less than $20 for two tests which you can take one now and then if you want to save the other for another time then you can always save it if you're not going to give it to someone else to use. And one thing I like to mention about this a little caveat is that they do have an expiration obviously but I did by quite a bit of tests because I always try to stock up on things that I feel like I'm going to use a lot of and this one I just purchased this literally last weekend. It says it was it says that it was manufactured last month. So about a month ago. And then it expires basically in eight months. So I don't know if they all expire in eight months from the manufacturer date or is that something that they're working on to make them live on the shelf a little bit longer. But that's this current box that I did purchase. So keep in mind that if you do get one, I would always say check the expiration date before you buy anything including groceries in the store. It's amazing how many things are on the shelf in store sometimes that are either expired or at the expiration or very close to the expiration date. So I do like to check that on a regular basis. So basically what you get is you get a little sleeve, it's like a little card that has a couple of holes in it. So the holes are where you're going to put the swab. So they give you two swabs obviously because it's to test. And then they give you two cards which are actually sealed individually which is which is good. So basically you take the swab, You swab one nostril like three times to the left, three times to the right. And then they give you a little liquid capsule. So what you do is you take this liquid capsule and you put the drops into the testing board that they give you and then you once you drop the liquid in there you take the swab and you stick the swab through the whole since there are two holes, you stick it through the hole and push it out towards the other side of the hole which they're right next to each other. And like I said, it's basically like a pregnancy test because don't quote me on this but it's basically two lines and you're pregnant or one line you're not pregnant except for its for covid. So basically I think it's one line and your negative for Covid and two lines you're positive for Covid. But like I said read the directions because I can't recall which one is which and that's why I say it's like a pregnancy test. So it's actually pretty interesting how they made this for home use. So like I said as far as is it 100% accurate? Not even a pregnancy test is 100% accurate. So go figure. So use it at your own discretion. But the reason that I ended up running across the home test is thinking about traveling and if you go to another country that allows U.S. citizens, to enter for just travel, not only do you have to take a test before you go, even just like traveling to Hawaii which is also here in the United States, But you have to also take a test before you come back and I believe it's within 48 or 72 hours of your departure, you have to show a negative covid test. So what this company actually offers is a test that you purchase. I don't think the boxes this big because this is actually I mean it's not a huge box but it's pretty big to take with you on a plane, especially when you're already pushing the limit on your bag. But I believe the one that you get to take when you travel is a little bit smaller from what I can recall online. From looking at their website and it's a monitor test which is pretty cool. So instead of you running around town, a town that you may not be familiar with trying to find a covid test location, you can actually have one in the comfort of your own hotel room or in the comfort of your own. Wherever you're staying with friends or family if you're staying overseas. So what happens is it's basically just like this except you have to register it. Maybe you have scanned basically like a QR code you register on your phone and you, this actually comes in a sealed uh pack. So I believe what it is is that once you register, you have to check in there is actually going to be like a virtual administrator that's going to watch you take the test. So they want to actually see you open the pack. So I don't believe you're supposed to open it until that virtual viewer is on the other line watching you take the test. So if you test negative, you show the person on the other end, you're basically video chatting with them either on your phone or on your tablet. And once this person says that your negative, then you basically get registered on this app so that you can then send that or provide that to the airline that you're going to be flying on. So I thought that was the coolest thing, the fact that they are, they turn something that was, such a hassle or trying to figure out where to go in a place that you may not be familiar with. Two making it so convenient and that these are the types of things that I get excited about. These are the types of things I want to share with everyone when I hear about things like this, this is right up my alley. So maybe I'll be able to travel soon overseas and they actually are able to record and show you how easy it is or I mean the only thing I can pretty much say is what if you do come back positive you travel and then you have to quarantine for what until for 14 days or until you test negative before you can fly back. I mean I think that is probably the biggest hurdle or stress or stressful thing to go through if you end up going to another country and you're having to come back and get back home to family or get back home to work. But as long as, hopefully, everyone stays safe when they travel. Something like this just makes your trip back just a little bit more easier.
