On October 24, 2018 Councillor Markus Chambers becomes the first black man to be elected to Winnipeg City Hall. In his current capacity as Deputy Mayor and Chairperson of the Winnipeg Police Board, Councillor Chambers shares his views on growing up Black in Winnipeg, his thoughts on systemic racism, the expression "defunding the police" and the important role Black History Manitoba has played in building Winnipeg and Manitoba as well as his hopes for the future.
