The disappearance of Gary Locklear is the oldest missing person cold case on the ledger for the North Charleston Police Department. No fewer than 100 investigators have worked the case since Gary vanished on September 6, 1974. From the Lowcountry all the way to Pennsylvania and back again, searches came up empty as police examined paltry evidence and followed thin leads.
