Iowa Player with Heart: Kendal Niemeier
Kendal Niemeier was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the court and field. Being able to make unique lifelong memories with her teammates in every sport has been the aspect she loves most about high school sports. Growing up and playing with the same group of girls has created strong friendships that allow her to have great team chemistry and excel in all of her sports. Kendal competes in basketball, volleyball, softball, track, and dance team. She is involved in FFA, student council, National Honor Society, and vocal jazz through choir. Outside of school, she is a Youth in Philanthropy and Silver Lakers 4-H Club member. Kendal expressed how it has been a privilege to be a member of the Youth in Philanthropy for all four years of her high school career. Throughout her time serving as a member of this organization, she has helped raise $215,00+ to grant out to local non-profit organizations. Another major community service project she has been actively participating in is Adopt-a-Family. She has helped "adopt" 7 families and 4 individuals through a youth group, 4-H, Youth in Philanthropy, and National Honor Society. She has also been cleaning a mile stretch of ditches on the highway that leads out of her town from 7th grade through senior year as a member of FFA, 4H, and class community service projects. Lastly, she has been involved in helping with fundraisers for the pool and bike trail in her town, as well as many activities that have helped nurture the younger generation. Agriculture is more than just farming to Kendal. The world of agriculture has opened many doors for her and has left her with lifelong advice and experiences. She enjoys being included in this aspect of the agricultural world through showing and raising animals at her county fair and participating in contests and fundraisers relating to the farm world. Overall, being introduced to the agriculture industry through her involvement in FFA has taught her many life lessons, introduced her to many new people and places, and sparked many new interests that she wouldn't have had without agriculture. Kendal plans on attending Morningside University in the fall of 2025 to play basketball and major in biology (pre-dentistry). She then wants to go on to earn a doctorate in dentistry to become an orthodontist.
