Iowa Player with Heart: Gavin Sloss
Gavin Sloss was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field, course, and mat. What he enjoys most about high school sports is being able to build relationships with his teammates and coaches, along with his opponents. These sports have also helped him set goals as well as achieve them. It has taught him to be humble and have good sportsmanship. No matter if he wins or loses, he will always tell everyone good job because that athlete may have the same dream as him. Gavin participates in track and field, cross country, and wrestling achieving 150 career wins. He is also involved in FFA where he has served both as treasurer and president, AC/GC FFA Chapter, Leo's Club, band, and choir. Gavin has also been in 4-H for 9 years where he has served as president, vice president, photographer, treasurer, and historian. Agriculture is Gavin’s future. Ever since he was a little kid, he has spent countless hours helping my grandfather do chores, mow hay, fix fences, etc. It became his dream to begin his own cow/calf operation after his grandfather gave Gavin his own bucket/bottle calf in first grade. Gavin plans to attend Iowa State University and major in agricultural studies with three emphasis options including agronomy, entrepreneurship, and precision ag. Once he has concluded his education, he plans to move back to his hometown with an agronomist/drone application job and continue working with his cow/calf operation in partnership with his older sister and add in row-crop farming. Eventually, he would like to open his own business that sells application drones to local businesses around his area.
