At 34 seasons (751 episodes) and counting, The Simpsons holds the rare distinction of being the longest running American sitcom, scripted primetime series and American animated series. Of course, a lot can change over the course of 34 seasons, both inside and outside of a series — from animation styles, casting, and comedic voice, to the culture in which the show exists (and satirizes). In this conversation from Season 12, showrunner/executive producer Matt Selman's provides an inside look at what it means to showrun one of the most pop-culturally significant series of all time, and how The Simpsons continues to evolve 24 years into its run.
