Participate Learning wanted to create a space that took learning beyond just resource sharing and lesson plan creation and wanted to encourage educators to share stories and create new knowledge together. The result was United we Teach - a community aimed at finding solutions to remote teaching and learning through live chats, discussion threads, virtual events and resource curation.

If there has been any sort of upside to our global pandemic experience the last 10 months, its that we’ve been forced to reimagine things we’ve been doing for years, sometimes decades, in person. Switchpoint proves that this reimagining can happen for in-person events and the result is a beautiful, diverse virtual experience. Through switching to a virtual setting, Switchpoint was able to reach a global audience and spark meaningful conversations in real-time. Julie and I were thrilled to play a role in helping them pull it off and we’re excited to have Heather join us.

Kristina Ishmael is an educator, learner, advocate, and truly an agent of change. currently serves as the Director of Primary and Secondary Education at Open Education Global. In this role, she is leading the development of a comprehensive effort to build global networks, infrastructure, and practices to support OER adoption and implementation at the primary and secondary level around the world. Before joining OEG, Ishmael was the senior project manager of the Teaching, Learning, & Tech team as part of the Education Policy program at New America in Washington, DC. Prior to this, she was the Digital Learning Specialist for the Nebraska Department of Education and an early childhood and elementary teacher of emerging bilingual students in Omaha, Nebraska. Kristina was recently named to President-Elect Biden's Department of Education Transition Advisory Board.
