A Jewish attorney and his Gentile colleague talk shop about life, the practice of law, and all things both kosher…and not so much. Your hosts are Miles Terry and Mark Goldfeder. One grew up in a synagogue and the other a church. One is an ordained Rabbi, the other was an Associate Youth Pastor once, but just finished his MDIV. Both of them “walked away” from the clergy professionally initially to pursue the practice of law and that shared legal profession has taken them right back to the front doors of churches and synagogues – entities they now represent. They talk about the everyday challenges their clients continually face and discuss all things Judeo- Christian-American along the way.
In this episode of the Better Gird Up Podcast, Goldfeder and Terry interviews Jonathan Gross, the Chief Rabbi for Nebraska about his “unorthodox” approach to Synagogue and his friendship with the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffett. For ten years Rabbi Jonathan Gross was the Chief Rabbi of the State of Nebraska. During his tenure he revitalized a community, did business with legendary investor Warren Buffett, and revolutionized the synagogue experience. He created, produced, and hosted Good Shabbos Nebraska, the world’s first ever, highest rated, and longest running synagogue talk show program. He received his BA in mathematics from Yeshiva College and his rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University. Most recently, he served as a rabbi at Baltimore’s Beth Tfiloh Congregation, one of the largest Orthodox Synagogues in North America. He is currently a student at the University of Baltimore School of Law. Rabbi Gross is the author of four books, including Values Investing: An Omaha Rabbi Learns Torah from Warren Buffett.
