Sawyer DeSmet was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field. His favorite part about high school sports is the opportunity to put the stresses of everyday life aside. Running out onto the field on a Friday night is an incredible feeling. When he’s with his teammates in the huddle and can see his parents in the stands, everything else seems to fade away and the only thing that matters is the next snap. To Sawyer, agriculture has played a huge role in my life. Agriculture has taught him so many lessons throughout the years, the most important one is having a strong work ethic. Farming has created a foundation of values for Sawyer that he will continue to build upon in the future. Sawyer is involved in football, basketball, and FFA. Sawyer is also very active in his church, going on two mission trips, serving meals and he helps coach youth flag football. His future plans are to attend SDSU for Animal Science. Following SDSU he plans to attend Vet School and become a Large Breed Veterinarian.
