Minnesota Player with Heart: Nick Olson
Nick Olson was nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart for his commitment and passion on and off the field and mat. What he loves most about high school sports is the relationships that he creates through competing as well as the influence he has made on underclassmen by setting examples. Nick is currently involved in baseball, football and wrestling. Outside of school and sports Nick participates in church youth group, Community Farmers Markets, and is a Vacation Bible School leader. When Nick thinks about agriculture, he believes it is much broader than just large machinery and fields of crops. The farm he grew up on produces not only crops, but also maple syrup, grass-fed beef, and pasture-raised chickens. To Nick, agriculture is about providing a wide variety of food and raw materials that sustain his community. From syrup and honey to high-quality meats and eggs, agriculture plays a vital role in feeding the world and supporting local economies. Nick plans on joining the United States Air Force, and then possibly going to the academy. However, after receiving an opportunity to play division 2 or 3 football and continue his academic and athletic career, Nick is undecided on his plans after high school.
